**What is BuildBase?**

BuildBase is a React/Next.js SDK that bundles the entire operational layer of a SaaS product into one place:

* **Authentication** (email, password, magic link, Google, LinkedIn OAuth, many to come as per requirements)
* **Workspaces & Multi-Tenancy** (B2C single-user ↔ B2B teams, toggle with one config)
* **Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)** (org-level + workspace-level, granular permissions)
* **Usage-Based Billing** (metered Stripe billing with quotas, overages, multi-currency, seat pricing)
* **Notifications** (email, push, Slack, with event-driven workflows)
* **Feature Flags** (control features per workspace, no code redeploy)
* **Workflows/Automation** (drip campaigns, lifecycle automation, 47+ triggers)
* **Internationalization** (8 locales end-to-end: en, es, fr, de, ja, zh, hi, ar)

One SDK. One dashboard. One bill.

**What's Different About BuildBase?**

Most SaaS tools handle one layer:

* Clerk → auth
* Stripe → payments
* LaunchDarkly → feature flags
* Knock → notifications

Every founder ends up stitching 5-7 tools together and rebuilding the same infrastructure.

BuildBase bundles all of it AND solves the problem that other tools don't: **non-destructive plan versioning.**

When you change your pricing, old customers stay grandfathered on the old version. New customers get the new price. No code changes. No refund disputes. No angry emails.

This is the moat.

**Proof: We Dogfood It**

BuildBase powers four of our own live, monetized products:

1. **PlugNode** (plugnode.ai) — AI video ad generator. Charges per flow-run + storage (metered billing with multi-currency).
2. **AgentCenter** (agentcenter.cloud) — AI agent dashboard. Tiered pricing with 30% affiliate program.
3. **RemoteWait** (remotewait.com) — Virtual queue SaaS for salons. SMS notifications, real-time analytics, free + paid tiers.
4. **LinkTracer** — Chrome extension for YouTube creators. Team RBAC, analytics API, self-hostable.

Each product has different pricing structures, permission models, and feature gates. All of them run on BuildBase.

**Why It Matters**

The hidden cost of building SaaS infrastructure:

* Defining a pricing tier: 2 hours (Stripe + config + test)
* Changing pricing: 3 hours (mutations, webhooks, debugging)
* Adding a feature limit: 1 hour (create, wire in React, test)
* Shipping a trial: 4 hours (Stripe setup, time-based flag, UI)

Per month for a growing SaaS: \~10 hours on plumbing. Per year: \~200 hours.

**BuildBase: 15 mins to define a tier, 5 mins to change it, 2 mins to add a limit, 1 min to ship a trial.**

**How It Works**

**Setup:**

    npm install /sdk

**React component:**

javascript

    <WhenQuotaAvailable resource="flow_runs">
      <button onClick={createFlowRun}>Create Flow</button>
    </WhenQuotaAvailable>

    <WhenQuotaExhausted resource="flow_runs">
      <UpgradePrompt />
    </WhenQuotaExhausted>

**Server-side:**

javascript

    await billing.recordUsage({
      event: 'flow_run',
      qty: 1,
      idempotencyKey: `flow_${id}`
    });

**Configuration (no code):**

* Toggle Personal ↔ Platform mode
* Define roles and permissions
* Set pricing per plan version
* Control features per workspace
* Everything else is automatic

**Honest Gaps**

We're young (v0.0.x) and React/Next.js only.

* ✓ In production on four real products
* ✓ Handling real teams, real billing, real permissions
* ✓ Non-destructive versioning (never breaks)
* ✓ Fully headless (API-first if you want your own UI)
* ✗ Not multi-framework yet (React 18/19 only)
* ✗ Managed SaaS (self-hosting coming Q3/Q4 2026)
* ✗ Pre-revenue (we're early, bootstrapped)

**What's Next**

If you're:

* Building a SaaS where teams collaborate
* Tired of stitching 5 billing tools together
* Shipping usage-based billing (especially AI SaaS)
* Want to skip 4-8 weeks of infrastructure work

**What's the biggest friction point in your SaaS infrastructure?**

Is it:

1. Setting up multi-tenancy (workspaces)?
2. Building RBAC (who can do what)?
3. Wiring metered billing into Stripe?
4. Managing team invitations and roles?
5. Feature gating different tiers?
6. Something else?

I'm genuinely trying to understand what kills momentum for founders, so I know what to prioritize next.
