Welcome back to Day 25 of my new pool finish startup series! We're getting very close to the finish line now, and the pool water is looking absolutely fantastic. With only a few days remaining before the 28-day startup period is complete, today's water test results show just how important daily monitoring and small chemical adjustments can be during a new plaster or pebble finish startup.

In today's update, I test chlorine, pH, and alkalinity, then make the necessary adjustments to keep the water balanced and protect the new pool surface. Chlorine tested at approximately 1-2 ppm, so I added 1.25 quarts of liquid chlorine to bring it back into the target range. The pH tested at 7.4, and I added 1 pint of muriatic acid to keep it under control. Total alkalinity remains steady at 60 ppm.

One of the biggest challenges during a new pool startup is controlling pH rise while allowing the finish to cure properly. Throughout this series, I've documented every step of the process, including water testing, brushing, chemical balancing, equipment setup, filtration adjustments, and lessons learned along the way.

If you're planning a new pool build, pool replaster, pebble finish installation, or gunite pool renovation, this series provides real-world startup data and daily progress updates that can help you understand what to expect during the critical first month.
