So undecided: To med or not to med?
Hi guys only have the confidence to post this since i’m completely anonymous
I’m a 4th year nursing student right now and I want to continue my studies in med school. My mom supports me fully and encourages me, but recently i’ve been having many doubts
-
In nursing school, I notice that I’m more interested and much more capable in med subjects (anatomy and physiology, biology, medical-surgical, etc.) than nursing subjects. However, it’s still a difficult course so I have average grades
-
I don’t fully know the process. I know that I should take NMAT and apply to med schools but what’s next? I’ve seen people post their stats and all but I have no idea what they mean
-
I’m afraid that if I do continue med school, I might not be able to handle it all and risk losing so much time doing something i’m not capable of doing. I know med school is far more difficult and competitive than nursing school, so if i get average grades now, what will I be in med?
-
The feeling of seeing my peers go to work and travel while i’m still studying is something that kind of bothers me deep down (pls don’t judge). I don’t compare myself to others often but I also don’t want to waste my time and eventually realize that I shouldn’t have pursued medicine.
-
Despite all of these, I still have this strong feeling like i’m being called to pursue medicine. I think it’s difficult for me since i’m seeing the consequences of everything (Nursing = losing the chance to pursue med, Med = losing the chance to enjoy my life)
I need some advice. I have no one to talk to about this.
