Tape at the end of filament

Don’t know if this is true for all rolls of filament, but I am close to finish a roll and I see the very end of the filament is taped onto the spool. I’ve finished other spools without actually seeing the end of the filament. So now I’m wondering what happens when there’s tape on the end but you aren’t around to see when the spool ends. The AMS doesn’t eat the tape, right? Is it suppose to pull the end of the filament out of the tape? Has anyone had an issue where the tape (if any) stayed on the end of the filament instead of the spool, and if so, did it cause any sort of problems?

I admit I tend to be paranoid and to worry too much. Just trying to be aware of potential issues I haven’t yet encountered.
