Septoplasty & Turbinate Reduction scheduled in 4 days
Hello, I have a septoplasty and turbinate reduction scheduled in 4 days. The reason I have this surgery is due to snoring. I have really no issues day to day breathing my ENT just recommended it to alleviate my snoring. I know from my sleep study that I do not have sleep apnea, it’s just the snoring.
I wanted to share my experience that I found jarring. No one told me about this risk, after doing some research, I found out about the real risk of ENS. So I mentioned it and simply asked what she thought in my pre op appointment and the PA acted like I was a crazy conspiracy theorist, said the doctor does these all day and he is very good and sent me on my way immediately after asking, 6 minutes into the consultation. Now I’m not gonna pretend that I know for a fact that a 6 minute pre op appointment is not normal but it sure doesn’t feel normal.
I may still go forward with the surgery if the doctor is willing to do Septoplasty only and not turbinate reduction as my understanding is that ENS is not a risk associated with just Septoplasty.
