Seriousness of career?
I'm in my late 20s and I'm still a fresher. I have a bachelor's and a master's degree in business, but during my studies I realized that marketing and business-related roles weren't something I wanted to pursue long term. Over time I developed a strong interest in technology, and since then I've been studying to transition into tech.
What bothers me is that I'm still unemployed and have no professional work experience. I know I haven't been doing nothing all these years because I was studying and changing direction, but I can't help feeling embarrassed about being at this stage of life without a career. Sometimes I genuinely feel like a failure.
At the same time, I don't seem to take life as seriously as other people. I'm naturally very easygoing, I joke around a lot, laugh at almost everything, and people generally see me as the funny or childish person. Even with all the pressure I'm under, I still find ways to laugh and not take things too seriously.
The strange thing is that I do have goals. I want a career, I want to succeed, and I want to build something meaningful. It's not a lack of ambition. It's more that I struggle to stay focused and disciplined for long periods. I'll become serious and motivated for a few days, then I start procrastinating and lose momentum.
Sometimes I wonder if successful people are naturally more serious than I am, or if I'm focusing on the wrong thing entirely.
