What do you use when you're away from your piano? (And are you actually happy with it?)
I have been learning piano about 4 years now, I travel pretty often for work, and I've never found a portable option that doesn't feel like a compromise to my practice quality. I've found solutions like taking a keyboard with me if I'm driving or booking a piano room if in a big city, but both of those are more rare and ideally I could find something that fits in a carry-on bin.
So I'm curious what people here actually do:
- Do you just accept the break in practice when you're away?
- Have you found a portable keyboard you actually trust your technique to?
I'm exploring whether there's a real solution to this - something with a feel that actually resembles a piano, modular enough to pack in a carry-on. Curious if others feel this pain or do you just make peace with not practicing on the road?
