Plan to move to Switzerland in 2-3 years
Me (27M) and my gf (27F) are planning to move to CH within 2-3 years (both EU citizens from middle europe)
Trying to prepare us for it as much as we possibly could.
I have a B.Sc. with major in Business Administration and Supply Chain, 5yrs of experience in Automotive in Production Planning.
Fluent business English, currently working on C1 German. Don’t have problem to learn also French for like B1 as well if necessary/useful.
She is a nurse with a master degree in her field, with +5yrs experience in Oncological surgery. Similar language skills as me.
I would like to move to a safer non-automotive part of industry (EU automotive is gonna get bad in the next 5 years, don’t want to be part of it).
She’ll stay in her field.
I’m aware that she is in a way better position to apply for a job. Also doesn’t really matter then, which german-speaking part of CH to choose, but should be industry/supply chain-oriented.
We were also thinking about starting as a Grenzgänger located in Lörrach or so, so we wouldn’t have to deal with the rental in the beginning, since it’s quick easier to find one in DE due to the process, from what i’ve heard.
What are your tips on how to effectively use those prep years? Which skills/certification/degree matter the most? Should I apply first for a corp position or rather some Mittelstand?
We plan to stay there for like 5-10yrs, then move back.
Appreciate all your answers and tipps 🙏
