Nervous about my first ever launch event today

Showcase: Prerelease

I’ve been a founder/entrepreneur for over a decade now, building different products and chasing different ideas.

Most of them have fallen flat.

But about 2.5 years ago, I built a simple MVP for a membership plugin. For the first time, something I made started to gain real traction.

As it grew, it became obvious that there was much more potential than we originally expected. But there was also a problem: the product we had built wasn’t really designed for what people needed it to become.

It was simple. It was basic. It worked, but only up to a point.

So after 2 years of building, and after reaching more than 500 paying customers, we had to make a difficult decision:

Do we keep iterating on what we already have, or do we rebuild from the ground up?

Iterating would have been safer in the short term, but it also meant accepting a lot of limitations and missed opportunities.

Rebuilding meant a huge amount of work, risk, and uncertainty. We chose to rebuild.

Today, we’re relaunching the platform as a complete ground-up rebuild. It includes 12+ powerful new features for both new and existing customers, and honestly, I’m nervous.

I’m nervous because existing customers will need to migrate to the new version. We’ve tried to make that process as smooth as possible, but it’s still partly automated and partly manual.

I’m nervous about how people will receive it.

I’m also nervous because we’re doing our first real launch event. It’s a YouTube Premiere hosted through Luma, and I’ve never done a launch this way before.

This past year has been one of the most challenging and rewarding years I’ve had as a founder. A lot of it was spent rebuilding something that already worked because we believed it could become something much better.

Now I’m just eager to get to the other side of the launch and see how it lands.
