Welcome to r/PoliceEncounters. Share Your Story and Read This First
Hi everyone, my name is Joe Waters, and welcome to r/PoliceEncounters.
I created this community as a place for people to share real stories about their experiences with the police. Those stories might be good, bad, strange, funny, serious, frustrating, emotional, or confusing. Some people may want to talk about a positive interaction that stayed with them. Others may want to share an experience that left them angry, upset, or unsure about what happened.
The aim of this community is simple: to give people a space to talk honestly about police encounters and to let others discuss those experiences in a respectful way.
What you can post here:
- Personal stories about encounters with the police
- Good or bad experiences
- Strange, funny, or unusual incidents
- Questions about how others would have handled a situation
- Thoughts from people who have worked in policing
- Stories from witnesses, victims, family members, or members of the public
A few important rules from the start:
Please do not post names, addresses, phone numbers, badge numbers, social media profiles, or anything that could identify a private individual.
This is not a place for doxxing, harassment, threats, or witch-hunts.
Strong opinions are fine, but abuse is not.
This community is not a replacement for legal advice. If something serious has happened, please speak to the proper authorities, a solicitor, or the relevant complaints body in your area.
To get started, feel free to introduce yourself in the comments or share your first story.
You could start with:
What happened?
Where did it happen generally?
Was it a good or bad experience?
What stayed with you afterwards?
Thanks for being part of the first wave of r/PoliceEncounters. Hopefully this becomes a place where people can share openly, listen properly, and have honest conversations about the reality of dealing with the police.
