The slow slide of corporate fascism.

Discussion

Started off flying northwest, feel like I’m watching the slide in slow motion.

For years, Delta was the airline people recommended without hesitation. Lately, I’ve been wondering if people are recommending the Delta they remember rather than the Delta they’re currently flying.

A few things I’ve noticed:

• Fewer meaningful upgrades despite elite status
• Higher fares compared to competitors on the same routes
• Loyalty program benefits that seem less valuable every year
• Increasingly crowded lounges
• More emphasis on premium products while the average traveler gets less

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d love to hear from people who fly Delta all the time for the last 25 years like me.

If you think Delta is still the best airline in the U.S., what specifically are they doing better than everyone else? I live in a major hub so I don’t get to fly other airlines much ad I would like to.

And if you’ve moved some of your travel elsewhere, what was the tipping point? I’m thinking I need to start looking at connections as the Hub prices are double to triple. Anyone one else connecting to get half price tickets.
