Kinda worried

Question

Hey short description, I’m 32 male, 6’1 at 220 pounds. Semi active at work mostly (shift supervisor at a welding a fab shop) so lots of walking 8,000-10,000 steps a day. Got my bloodwork done for a different issue back in February at a quick clinic, never heard back. Wife got a letter in the mail saying they have been trying to contact me to let me know my Cholesterol (LDL) was extreamly high and I was at serious risk for heart attack or stroke. Long story short my wife called the RN confirmed this and prescribed me 40mg of atorvastatin. She’s scared to death. Cause somewhere on the internet it was said this is a medicine prescribed at this dose for serious problems she’s so worried it’s kinda actually got me a little worried myself.

So I guess the question does she have a valid reason to be worried? Am I knocking on heavens door so to say? Like do I need to take this seriously or can I just take this medicine and keep eating how I want to.

Thanks in advance.
