Would I enjoy a modded sims 2 as much or more than modded sims 4?
I’ve only every played sims 4 and I played a heavily modded game, like 100gb worth. I like my game to look nice, I like my sims to look good, like my houses to look good. But most importantly I want interesting and fun gameplay. I have lots of gameplay mods that are necessities for me. I cannot play sims 4 without mods, cc and lots of DLCs.
The way I like to play the sims is rotationally with one large family and their offspring and their new families. So I can end up with 10-20 households that I’m playing at the same time. I care about family gameplay a lot. I used to randomize lots of things about my sims lives, like career, traits, how many children they’d have if any, sexuality, hobbies, how long they’d live to. I would randomize these things using number generators and I had a whole system set up. Then whatever results I would get for each sims I would then find a way to make them into a ‘story’ and would play it out. So ig I’m a sims player that likes a lot of control but maybe that’s just cuz the sims 4 doesn’t really give me much like its very much a dollhouse.
I’ve heard lots of good things about the sims 2 and I love all the animations and I’ve heard the personality system is really good and the gameplay is actually challenging which I like. I like the sound of the wants and fears system a lot. I have looked into mods and while there’s definitely not as many as the sims 4, there does seem to be a few. As for cc, again not as many but a decent amount.
What I’m wondering is, while I see a lot of comparison between the two sims games, they’re usually comparing vanilla games. How does a heavily modded sims 4 compare to a modded sims 2? Like is it worth it to get sims 2 and mod that? Will it be a better experience or will I miss things that the sims 4 has? Will it be a clunkier experience? Do sims 4 mods make up for lackluster sims 4 live mode?
Anyone have experience playing modded versions of both?
