Flooring Sub
I asking asked my flooring sub about heat resistant tile and grout and waterproofing. This was an email they sent me. What do you think? Has anybody used the ditra system before? I said I’d be doing an elevated floor joist system and wanted their input on tile application for the sauna and waterproofing.
“In this situation, we would use a ditra mat from schluter that is intended to retain heat and it also acts as the waterproofing . We would probably need to install durrock over the wood decking, then pour a mudpan for the slope, and then the ditra mat would be installed on top of the slope followed by a standard tile installation. We would need to use a schluter drain as well to keep all the waterproofing components consistent and connected”
