How to build a 1000 points army ?

Hey guys!

I'm thinking about starting an Emperor's Children army, but I have no idea where to begin.

I'd love to run Fulgrim, but he takes up about a third of a 1000-point list, so I'm a bit hesitant. Is he actually worth it at that points level? I remember Mortarion and Magnus being absolute monsters in 1000-point games back in the day.

At my LGS, we usually play on a standard mat split in half, so I guess Rhinos aren't really necessary?

My favorite units so far are the Flawless Blades, Fulgrim, and the Exultant Lord. But I feel like I'd probably need some ranged unit too?

Any advice on where to start? Thanks!
