It costs gems to play ranked?

I booted the game after not playing for a few weeks and I cannot access my collection, ranked is locked and has a button that requires 100 gems.

Is there like a new tutorial I am being locked into playing as Vanessa for some reason? Quite confusing to have all of my things locked after 180 hours
