Sertraline made me feel emotionally numb at 50mg. Does increasing the dose make that worse? What about adding Wellbutrin?

Hi everyone,

I took 50mg of Zoloft in the past for about 4 months. While it did help reduce some anxiety and negative emotions, I eventually stopped because I felt like a complete plant.

I wasn't really happy, but I wasn't sad either. It felt like my emotions were flattened out. I had very little motivation, excitement, or enjoyment. I was just kind of existing.

After stopping, things were okay for a while, but lately my mental health has been getting much worse again, so I'm considering going back on medication.

One thing I'm wondering is: if 50mg already made me feel emotionally numb, does increasing the dose usually make that feeling worse? Or can some people actually feel better and more like themselves on a higher dose?

Another topic my doctor mentioned was possibly combining sertraline with Wellbutrin if needed.

One of the biggest reasons I stopped sertraline was the sexual side effects. It was very difficult to orgasm, and when I did, the sensation felt heavily muted compared to normal.

For people who have experience with sertraline + Wellbutrin:

Did Wellbutrin help with emotional blunting?

Did it help with motivation and energy?

Did it improve sexual side effects such as delayed orgasm or reduced pleasure?

If you increased your sertraline dose, did the emotional numbness get worse, stay the same, or improve?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences.

Thanks!
