What exactly am I supposed to be seeing in regards to "change"
My partner finally hit a wall with his addiction in April of this year. He has since had a blocker on his phone and has changed a little bit of his mindset around the subject of porn and has definitely seen how much damage he has done to me.
He can't afford therapy he has gone to one saa meeting(took a while to find one in our area) he plans on going to another but says it was just guys talking about what they've done they read something out of a book and then one of the guys talked about one of his recent experiences. So my partner doesn't see how or why its helpful and has said he doesn't think so far that its helpful at all.
He listens to a couple different podcast and has said hes learn alot so far....but thing is I don't see a change besides him not havung access to porn anymore.
For me its still very much a driving factor in my brain and anytime I ask him how its going he just says "good" when I ask are you still moving forward with everything he says "yes I feel really good"
But what exactly am I supposed to be looking for? Where's the change? Where's the work? What is the work even supposed to be for someone that cant afford the therapy portion of it all? How does he take the things hes learned in podcasts and apply it to our everyday life's?
I ask have you pinpointed your triggers he says "yes mostly stressed sometimes boredom and a lot of it was a habit it was just worked into my everyday routine"
I ask so how do you approach those triggers now and he "says I allow myself to actually feel the stress or go through boredom and I tell myself that the porn isnt going to fix the emotion it'll just postpone it and im done living with that amount of exhaustion"
So thats all good at least I think it is. But besides that what else is supposed to be happening? I'm still struggling every single day haunted by everything yet he seems to think were getting better
