Camera recommendations

I’m new to digital cameras and I’m in the market but overwhelmed with what I should get.

I am wanting a camera with a front facing feature to use to take selfies and landscape photography. I plan to do a lot of traveling this year and want something compact I can easily throw into a small bag. Ideally something less than $1,000. The canon gx mark iii is the camera I’ve been eyeing, but it’s so expensive and hard to come by. Any recommendations for something similar??
