WIBTA if I asked my bf to give me a clear picture of his financial situation?

NTA

My (25F) boyfriend (38M) of 2.5 years are going to be moving from low cost area to a very high cost area in about 2 or 3 months. It will also be a cross country move (16ish hours by car) We are making this move for my boyfriends career. But because our rent and expenses are going to increase, and because moving costs and the deposit are gonna be really expensive, I am worried about how we are going to afford it.

My boyfriend has a stable career and makes 100Kish and I work part time and make about 30kish. After the move, we expect his salary to double. Even though he makes a good salary, due to certain unavoidable life circumstances he had to empty out all of his savings and has even incur a few thousand dollar in debt. I estimate the move will cost minimum 3k plus we are expecting to pay a 2 to 7 thousand dollar deposit for the new apartment. for me, the math ain't mathing.

I am considering asking my boyfriend to give me a clear plan for how we are going to afford this. I want to know how much he is saving, how much he is putting towards the debt so I can crunch the numbers to see how much (if any money) is missing so I can know how much to plan to contribute to the move myself. My family always has had a lot of credit card debit and I want to know that my bf isn't doing the same. We've been together for more than 2 years and I would like to eventually marry this guy and I want to make sure the person I am marrying isn't going to transfer me a lot of debt via marriage. However, I feel this might be too intrusive.

For context, I contribute about 300$ to the household and he contributes about 3000$.

tldr me and boyfriend are moving, it will cost a lot of money, I want him to explain how we will be able to afford it, he has no savings and I dont make much money
