Need a VPN that can hide my gaming activity from my ISP: Any recommendations?

I've been getting throttled by my ISP whenever I'm gaming online and I'm pretty sure they're monitoring my traffic. I want to use a VPN to keep my gaming sessions private, but I'm worried about finding one that won't make my connection even slower or cause lag spikes during matches.

I used a free VPN before and it was terrible for gaming, so I'm looking for something that actually maintains decent speeds. Does anyone have experience with residential VPNs that work well for gaming without getting detected or causing connection issues?
