ποΈ How DevvyBoard's Kanban board and My Tasks filter actually work
One of the most used parts of DevvyBoard is the Kanban board β and specifically the My Tasks filter. Here's a proper breakdown of how it works and why it's set up the way it is.
ποΈ The board itself
Every project in DevvyBoard has a Kanban board with three columns out of the box:
- To Do
- In Progress
- Done
Cards move across columns by drag and drop β on web you grab the drag handle, on Android you long-press the card. Both sync in realtime, so if a teammate moves a card on their phone, you'll see it shift on your browser within seconds. No refresh needed.
π What lives on a card
A card isn't just a title. Each one can hold:
- Assignee β who owns this task
- Deadline β with overdue highlighting so nothing slips quietly
- Description β full context for the task, not just a one-liner
- Priority β low, medium, high, or urgent
- Comments β realtime discussion right on the card
- Attachments β images and PDFs so context stays with the task, not buried in chat
On web, cards also show a full activity timeline β so you can see when deadlines changed, who moved the card, and what was updated.
π€ My Tasks
This is the filter that makes the board actually usable as your team grows.
Toggle My Tasks and the board narrows to only the cards assigned to you. Everything else fades out. It's the fastest way to start your day β open the board, hit My Tasks, and your plate is right there.
Toggle back to All any time to see the full picture.
π Who can assign cards?
This is worth knowing upfront:
- Owners and Coordinators can assign cards to any project member
- Members can work on cards and move them across columns, but cannot assign
It keeps things clean β work gets delegated top-down rather than everyone reassigning everything.
π Try it yourself
You don't even need an account. The live demo has a fully working board with sample cards you can drag, open, and explore right now.
