On-site interviews

Interviewed for a Chicago based Director level role that I thought I was qualified for. I don’t live in Chicago but was open to relocate if the role works out, and that was what I told the recruiter.

Hiring Manager was very enthusiastic and kept saying “that’s exactly what we need” for most of my answers. That was a Thursday.

Recruiter emailed me at 6 PM the next day (Friday), and followed up at 6 am on Monday, asking if I can come on site at the end of the week for a panel interview. I said I was available and asked what details I needed to provided for logistics.

Recruiter went silent for a week after that. When I followed up he said he was still trying figure out schedules and then radio silence. It’s been a month.

Do companies not pay to have candidates come in person any more?
