Passport Stuck with “Picked Up” status

I sent my passport through Fedex (VFS) to consulate. However, its status is stuck at “Picked up” for more than 24 hours now and has had no other updates. It was supposed to be an overnight delivery. Fedex has opened a customer support ticket but I haven’t received any updates. I’m afraid that my passport is lost. Is it common for packages to be stuck in “Picked up” state or does it actually indicate a loss?
