# of players question

Hiya! I play on a drafted newbie beer league. Normally it's 15 people per team. We have only 9 people this week for our game so I asked some team mates from last season if we could get 2 or 3 of them to fill in on our forward line. A couple people on my current team (this will be their 3rd game in their life) asked we could get a few extra bodies too.

However, I now have someone getting mad that I asked for a few others for the one week that we're short handed. I'm new to all this and it's my 2nd season.

I guess what's the norm in these situations? None of us are great and the absolute newbies (80% of the team) were absolutely dying last week with 11 people and a few of our team mates said they didn't know if they would finish our 14 game season because we were short handed and they were exhausted and hurting. I'm just trying to make sure we don't lose people early on in the season.
