I cannot complete like 40% of this game

I (controller player) cannot, for the life of me, drift. In any capacity. I can't do like half the drift zones, I can't even get through the first drift club mission. What in the hell am I doing wrong?

I have looked through dozens of posts about what car to use, what tune to use, what to turn off in the settings. I've done it all and have gotten nowhere!

What the hell am I doing wrong!?
