As of June 3, 2026, Doki Doki: Retribution will be at a paused state of development.

It pains me to say that Retribution will cease development for a little while. Lately, my interests have shifted. I don't feel the same burning passion for Retribution as I used to. Instead, I want to shift my focus on different mod ideas that I will enjoy developing.

I have a perfectionist personality and want to make sure that every mod I develop is essentially "perfect". Take the [Main Menu of Retribution](https://www.reddit.com/r/DDLCMods/comments/1tu3giq/menu_redesign_complete_retribution/) as an example. I spent days trying to perfect something that would only take the average person a few hours to complete. Even then, I still feel that it needs polishing.

Retribution is also a very basic mod that has been done many times before. The entire plot of Retribution orbits around Sayori wanting to punish herself for being so selfish. I want to develop a mod that is my own, one that hasn't been developed before.

I would love to thank everybody that was with me on the journey of Retribution. Perhaps, when I have an idea for a different mod, we can all rejoice together as I share progress updates and teasers. Until then, I formally conclude the development of Retribution until the near-future.

Retribution is on Vacation!
