Tea II
If we could meet for tea,
what would you say to me?
Starting with stones or scones?
Are we awkward at all?
Probably,
Before it starts to rain.
"Where is your umbrella?"
You ask me anxiously.
I raise my hands, smiling.
"I don't have one, it seems."
Your lips purse,
"Well then, schooch."
(was this rehearsed?)

If we could meet for tea,
what would you say to me?
Starting with stones or scones?
Are we awkward at all?
Probably,
Before it starts to rain.
"Oh, I guess we're done."
You say, straining to hide,
relief, your sympathy
plied.

If we could meet for tea,
what would you say to me?
Starting with stones or scones?
Are we awkward at all?
Probably,
Before it starts to rain.
"Where is your umbrella?"
You ask me anxiously.
I raise my hands, unsure.
"I don't have one, it seems."
Your lips purse,
"Unprepared, as always."
