Wondering if this nickname works in writing, or if readers won’t make the connection

I acknowledge this is such a non-issue but I wanted some feedback regarding a character who goes by many different names.

So her given name is Melina. My thinking was that in some aspects of her life she would be known as Lee. I guess my concern is that the connection between Muh-LEE-nuh to Lee may make sense when said out loud but might throw people off when written out.

Thoughts?

Again I know this isn’t a super big important question but I am looking for some honest feedback because it has been at the back of my mind while writing as of late
