9/10, really enjoyed this one. I guessed the killer fairly early on, but it didn’t take away from the fun at all. The Cornish seaside setting gives the whole book a great holiday atmosphere, and it’s just a very entertaining mystery from start to finish.

I especially liked how Christie keeps dropping hints about the >!different Magdalas in the family!<. I worked out who the culprit was, but couldn’t quite figure out the motive. When Poirot explains everything at the end, the solution is so clean and satisfying that it all just clicks into place.

The David Suchet adaptation was great fun too. I actually preferred that they cut out >!Freddie’s husband and the whole “lunatic husband” subplot!<, as I never found it particularly interesting in the book. >!My only complaint is that they hid the fact that Nick and Poirot staged her death, which felt a bit less fair on the viewer than the novel!<.

Overall, a really fun read and one of Christie’s most enjoyable mysteries.

I know some people don't like this one because of how Poirot is portrayed in the book, but honestly the setting made it worth it for me, and Nick is such a fun character to read.
