Grocery savings tips that actually work in Peterborough

Opinion

A few things I've found actually help here specifically. Checking the Sobeys and FreshCo flyers every week and building the meal plan around what's on sale rather than deciding what to make first and then shopping for it. Sounds obvious but flipping the order reduces the bill. Buying proteins when they're on sale and freezing them. Took me a while to do consistently but now I basically never buy meat at full price. When chicken or ground beef hits a good price I stock up and freeze portions. Also using foodhero to find items close to their best-before date at the Sobeys locations here and marked down because of it. FreshCo over Sobeys for staples when quality doesn't matter. Store brand stuff especially. The selection in Peterborough isn't ideal but there's still room to save if you're systematic about it.
