My biggest ADHD insecurity: sounding smarter than I can consistently execute.

Advice

Is it just me, or does ADHD make you over-explain because your thoughts move faster than your words can keep up?

You end up saying far more than you intended, oversharing personal details, circling around the point repeatedly—yet somehow still feeling like you never quite expressed what you actually meant.

After years of feeling misunderstood, you start becoming hyper-aware of how you’re perceived. You want to be liked. You want to be understood. You know exactly what needs to be done, yet often find yourself unable to do it. Over time, you become an expert at talking about the right things, giving the right advice, understanding the right answers.

And that’s when the insecurity creeps in.

Not because you’re pretending to be someone you’re not, but because there’s a growing gap between what you know, what you say, and what you’re actually able to execute.

Sometimes, it leaves you feeling pretentious even when you’re trying harder than anyone can see.

To anyone who has worked through this and experienced the difference you know who you are. I’m seeking your help.
