Makeup Exam or summer

I’m an Integrated M.Tech student and need some advice regarding two backlogs (4 credits each).
My Sem 1 GPA is 6.4. In Sem 2, I failed two theory subjects. I have two options:
Makeup Exam
If I clear both, my CGPA will be around 6.4.
Or
Summer Semester

So my dilemma is: should I clear the subjects quickly through the makeup exam and move on, or take the risk of doing them in summer for potentially better grades?
For context:
Completed credits so far: 38
Backlog credits: 8 (two 4-credit subjects)
Still have 8 semesters left in the degree.
What would you do in my situation and why?
