Why is the news in Australia so localised?

There’s been heaps of times where I’ve turned on the TV and it’s just covering the most basic local news you’d ever see.

In other countries, I’ve noticed they tend to cover much more international news and overseas coverage.

But here, most of the news seems to be filler, to just fill in time, and then on the last 10-15 minutes of the program, its actual news of international coverage before it switches back to local news about some “expert” talking about how to control the tax rates in Australia or something lmao.
