If you can afford to buy something for your kids then you should.
Gonna be a very unpopular take but Im a firm believer that if you can afford to buy your kid something then you should. Here me out, Im also a firm believer that your kids should work, do stuff for the house, work part time when they’re old enough. I don’t support making your kids work for everything if you can comfortably afford something. If you have decided to have kids, you are effectively giving them a death sentence. Obviously you should not be having kids if you cannot afford it, that should be obvious. But there is no reason to make this death sentence as miserable and difficult as possible if you have the means to do otherwise. Your kids need to know the value of hard work. They need to fend for themselves, but there is nothing wrong with giving them a good kickstart in life. Let me give you an example. If I earned 250k+ a year, paid off house, thousands in savings, there is absolutely no reason my kid should be working their ass off to pay for college when they coukd be spending that time actually studying, saving every penny from working part time to buy a dangerous old half broken nissan, not having a powerful enough computer or good sports equipment. There is nothing wrong with being generous to your own kids. Sure theres no need to go overboard, If I drove a G-wagon, I wouldnt give my kid the same. My kid would get like a benz c300, maybe a c43 if their responsible enough and I can afford it. Fact of the matter is, there is nothing wrong with paying for college, buying equipment and a nice car for your own child if you can afford to do so and I will die on that hill- As long as they know the value of hard work, and prove that they’ll be able to stand on their own two feet
