Any insight from those who hire, on how the hiring process works and why they would become unresponsive?

I’ve been an MLT at a hospital lab for 6 years. I applied for a PRN clinic position and they responded to my application VIA text in only 12 hours to get me in to “ask more questions and meet staff.” I applied Thursday night and they responded Friday mid morning. They said the following Monday wouldn’t work but Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday would. I agreed Friday would work and then they just disappeared when it seemed like they would have responded nailing down a certain time on Friday. I messaged this afternoon (Wednesday) inquiring about setting up a time (did not even specify when at this point or mention Friday- was just trying to see if they’re even engaging with me anymore because surely they wouldn’t schedule it for Friday with less than 48 hours notice) and no response by end of day. The listing is two months old. I have never been in this position before. But not sure if I’m expecting too much here… Any insight? I thought possibly I did the wrong thing by asking about a certain day first but then they provided me with three other days that would work for them…
