Ok, This Game Legitimately Deserves A Thumbs Down
I have been being patient for a long time and I came all the way to the end of act 2, trying to get all the fleas... I was being patient because the game is made with a lot of quality. Controls, hand drawn environments, upgrades, tools, characters... However after getting stuck in bilewater now and deciding to pivot to deep docks to get that flea first and realising all these bomb throwing path blocking standard enemies, yes they deserve the thumb down on steam because they didnt play test this shit and if they did then it is even worse.
Like, even dark souls has been through not putting a checkpoint before a boss gimmick. This isnt a good kind of difficult and like laughing at our faces they put fake benches and such. That bilewater map is a misery with every single detail in it. It has two of the most obnoxious enemies in the game. Stilkin, which are too many and swamp squits. Like even going there is pain and why are you still putting me through defeating the gauntlet to face the boss? Why is the bench(even the secret one) too far away? Why are there so many traps and stilkins?
Then the deep docks gauntlet with grenade throwers. They are throwing them in an incredible pace. You cant even clawline them, they throw them like a machine gun. You also cant even go like ''fine I will pay the 2 health tax just let me pass'' he doesnt die from his own grenade and he is just placed in the best way to block the path to the gauntlet.
Like, team cherry, if you really put so much effort into making the game miserable for me you can just tell me to give a thumb down. You dont have to put this much effort.
It is very unfortunate, it is like a great dish being spoiled with too much salt or spice.
I am all for difficulty but if the philosophy is ''die 50 times and once rng favors you, you will succeed'' that is like if your mom gets cancer and you crawl in hospital corridors for her for years that is also difficult, no the kind of difficult I look for though.
