Best tool for making platform fighter sprites.

I’m working on my first ever project as a platform fighter based around characters in my friend group. I am pretty bad at pixel art so I’ve been looking for means of rigging and animation. I saw Smack Studio but it looks pretty dead and isn’t the best for importing. I also saw Pixel Over and haven’t tried that yet. Does anybody know good pixel art systems?
