I wanted to share a small Chrome extension I made to listen to novels.
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a small Chrome extension I made called Smart TTS: AI Voices.
I originally built it for myself because I like reading web novels, but sometimes I want to listen while doing other things. The extension lets you open a webpage, click a paragraph, and have it read aloud with natural TTS voices.
It supports:
- 10 natural voices
- 31+ languages
- Play / pause / stop controls
- Adjustable reading speed
- Paragraph and sentence highlighting
- A floating on-page reader
- No ads or tracking in the extension UI
It is currently free, and I plan to keep it free for as long as I can afford to host it.
So far, it has passed 300+ installs and has around 30+ weekly users, which honestly makes me really happy since I mostly made it for my own novel reading workflow.
The extension is currently stable from my testing, but full honesty: it was mostly vibe coded 😎 so I’d really appreciate feedback, or suggestions from people who use TTS regularly.
I’m also planning to add PDF reading inside the browser soon, so it can be useful for more than just normal webpages.

I’d love to hear feedback, especially from people who use TTS for accessibility, studying, language learning, proofreading, or reading long content.
