Dexcom G7 and Eczema NEED ADVICE
So I'm a fairly new T1 as I got it in my 20s, and I'm still trying to find a work around for this problem I'm having.
I deal with eczema and sometimes the adhesive on the dexcom sensors triggers my skin to start producing puss, and a LOT. The patch begins hanging off me and becomes extremely itchy to a point of me going mad and ripping it off entirely at 3am. Under the patch is a dripping open wound that will scab over in a large area leaving me with less room for pump ports and new sensors.
Generally I'll just ask for a replacement from dexcom but this last batch of sensors I got were so bad that 5 or 6 of them didn't even make it 4 days (some just 2 days) before being soaked in oily fluid and falling off. I'm worried that they'll stop just sending replacements and get suspicious or flag my account or something when I'm legitimately trying to do everything correct. I always clean with alcohol and let it dry, always use 2 layers of spirit gum or skin tack and let them dry between, and always use an overpatch or even 2. I suspect the adhesive on this batch of sensors was slightly different because I've never had my skin reject the sensors THAT quickly before.
Part of the reason I'm writing this is that I submitted 5 replacement requests so far (with the SN numbers I keep all my sensor applicators), all with the same cause being "adhesion" and the first 3 were approved but the 4th was instantly rejected for replacements and I'm worried 5 will be the same.
I did submit all of these in a batch rather than submit a ticket the day it happened, is this a bad practice? It wouldn't surprise me if that raises some sort of flag for them getting 5 tickets at once, even if the dates and SN are accurate.
Any advice regarding dealing with reactions to the glue and/or quelling my dexcom replacement worries would be greatly appreciated.
