What is the current situation of Original FanFictions with new stories and characters?

Hey so I'm curious about the current state of the FanFictions of Harry Potter world. Bc of what I have read the majority of things that I found are or self inserts, or dark romance books with Dramione, or crazy ideas which are pretty funny, and things like that. I want to know if there is any original FanFiction with original characters and story and those type of things, and if they are popular or have a fanbase.

I'm currently writing one with a whole new cast of characters and a misterious story. The story would revolve around the founders of Hogwarts, attempting to explain its origins, the founders' secrets, lost prophecies, and various strange aspects of Hogwarts. I firmly believe in the idea of ​​Hogwarts as a character in itself, and I would like to explore this idea thoroughly. It wouldn't be set literally during Hogwarts' founding, but rather in the future, though past and present would eventually connect, combined with questions about the renewal of the wizarding world, whether the new is good or if it's better to stick with the old, and raising very interesting points about the evolution of the wizarding world, with a more introspective and cold way of telling things than in the original saga, with a strange protagonist who is very curious, for better and for worse, and with many family and internal doubts.

The plot would obviously revolve around the development of the characters, and a central idea: the heirs of the Hogwarts houses and the renewal of the ideals of the different houses, as they would remain the same in essence, but not exactly as we imagine them.

I was asking this wondering if it would be worth it, and if the people is still interested in reading fanfics in general. If it's so, which website would you recommend I use to publish it when I finally finish writing the first year?
