Thinking about leaving research for nursing
I've been working in academic laboratory research for about a decade and I love science, I love medicine, but I am falling out of love with research. Funding is dwindling, I have a low salary ceiling, no continuing education without going for a whole PhD and that is not worth it. And the worst part is I don't feel like my research even makes a difference. I'm someone who enjoys a fast paced, high stress, high critical thinking and evidence based environment and im debating on starting my journey to getting my ADN and RN cert (already have a BSc). I would need to take 2-3 pre-req classes and take the TEAS exam so I wouldn't be quitting my job anytime soon but before I even spend money on those pre-req classes, I am looking for any advice. If there is anyone who did something similar with nursing as a second career (especially if from a science background) I would appreciate any guidance, mentorship, and resources. I'm also very poor (academic research does not pay well) so if I go this route, I need to keep costs low so any amount of hacks are appreciated.
