I am too young and have too much to say, bad friendship.

Emotional abuse

This is probably going to be long, so TLDR: I live with a couple, one is lazy and the other does all the work. I love and hate the lazy one and kinda wanna kick her out. She is genuinely manipulative and abusive and I am exhausted (it has been 3 months).

I don’t know where to put this, so I have been reposting, looking for the right advice please.
Also, it is such a deep and overwhelming situation. What I type is genuinely just the surface of it all.

I am 21, moved in with two friends K (trans male) and E(gender fluid female) (if that stuff matters?) around March time.

Necessary backstory:
E has ADHD and has been struggling with mistruth and lying and manipulation, and is aware of it. She grew up in a household where her dad was a deadbeat druggo, but still loving and nice, dad - he just did not do any parenting. The mother apparently has bipolar and other undiagnosed disorders. I have known E since grade 9, so when I was 15, and I never liked her ever until around two years ago.

K grew up in a household with a dickhead father who has ASD and uses it as an excuse to be a c u next Tuesday. His mother is a people pleaser and is very timid. Basically, K has learned to just people please with shit abusive people, rather than talk up and defend himself.

Around 2.5 years ago, after around 6 month dating, K let E move in with him. Already, K’s home life was not good and his maternal grandfather had been threatening to bulldoze their house because of K’s father. (K lived in a house with his parents and brother on his Mum’s parent’s property, in a shitty unfinished, very shit house)
K has undiagnosed, absolute, ASD and likes his personal space to be how HE arranged it, nothing moved nor taken.
Anyway, living for 6 months with E proved to K that it was shit and suffocating. Often causing K to have panic attacks. K has overall developed many stress and panic issues directly because of E.

Around 2 years ago, their house got bulldozed, and they were only just able to move out to a block of land where K’s mother had paid for it and, still is paying off the mortgage. No house.
K has to live in a leaking, falling apart caravan, using an extension cord for power and a sink with no plumbing for dishes. No running water, no heating, just power, that would often short circuit.
K’s mum built a make shift shed for E to live in.

Of course the kitchen and all had to be in K’s caravan.

Over the span of 2 years, K was the only one with an income (living off of the dole), doing full time school remotely (because they lived 2 hours from the city and there is nothing here in rural Tasmania), doing ALL the house work, doing the food shopping, and being a baby sitter for an adult child, because E was too inconsiderate to put in even half of the effort K was. All because of depression. The thing is, K was depressed, too, while still having to do the labour of 2 full time occupations.

It took such a mental toll on K, and even the prospect of discussing these issues with E was just genuinely too stressful. His panics worsened.

I would like to mention that I have only ever wanted to be friends with K, but I have been forced to be friends with E, just so I can get along. (E was the reason K lost so many friends, she was an overly opinionated wanker who is naturally manipulative and only puts effort into making excuses).

An example: once, k and I were watching twilight on discord and being dumb bums, because we were 17 and still kids wanting to hve fun, E joins the call and tells us her dad died. I instantly knew it was a lie because I have a crazy accurate intuition, but it doesn’t take even that to know that that was a lie.
She runs with this for months, because k and I did not want to accept that it was a lie. “Even she wouldn’t do that, right?” Wrong.
I finally called her out in a mega respectful chat, because clearly, if you have to lie about that, you need help.

Now, I have given her some leniency to grow as a person, and she has, to an extent. She never had appropriate role models ever, was always the annoying kid at school, and was clearly having attention issues. So I am understanding and respectful, being the role model she never had. I feel bad for her younger self, but still feel sour to all the bad things that she has done.

Anyway.

K had finally had enough and needed a break, I let him stay in the shed on my parent’s property for as long as he needed, but that inadvertently lead to us moving in prematurely.

Context:
The three of us agreed to move into the shed and do it up, ONLY once ALL of us had a decent income and could afford it.
It may sound crazy - how could I want to move in with someone like that, you may ask? She is so effing likeable, so carismatic. And despite how self aware I am when I’m away from her, I feel so bad for ever saying anything when I am with her, as we get along like a house on fire. Abusive people are always like this.

Anyway. K had only had about a week’s break (barely even a break, because E kept messaging - even though K said not to, and obviously K still had to take her food… no income, no licence, no will to do anything other than look at world politics and internet drama). Then all of a sudden, E has this job offer for a sales role, she does her first day - they’re mega illegal and a bad company, I didn’t blame her for quitting on the spot. I previously said that she can move in, once she gets a job… well, she had to stay in the shed because it was more accessible and that eventually lead to her officially moving in.

The rent is $90 a week each. She can only just afford the money from doing bnb cleans with K (my parents have given them a job, but it’s mad inconsistent due to being a seasonal thing), E doesn’t do it well, but that’s also another convo.

Anyway. That is only $180 AUD a fortnight for ONE expense she needs to help pay. (We do it fortnightly) there is internet (that she could be using to job search), food ~$330 a fortnight (mind you, she eats like a hungry hound and leaves no crumbs - doesn’t pay even the idea of a cent for food), gas, her phone bill (that K pays).

And at the end of the day, there is ALWAYS an excuse for literally any qualm I have.

K has tried so many times to have conversations with her so she can change. Maybe it gets better for about a month, but then she goes back to being lazy, obviously thinking we’ve forgotten about it. This is even before we moved in together. K is just so exhausted by it all.

I hate that I have to be the one to bring up her problems because she can’t seem to prompt her own improvement journey. It took some slaps in the face from reality to get me good, but I care about being a better person, I love being a good person. K has put SO much effort to improve on his negative traits.

She seemingly puts little to no effort in. She might try for a day or two, but then notices it takes effort and gives up. It’s so unfair.

The first thing you might say is to get rid of her, kick her out, no more chances. But trust me when I say, it does not feel like it’s that simple.

Her family moved away, she has K by a chokehold and anytime I criticise her behavior, she goes zooming to K.

I used to work 5 days a week, 8:30-5. But I have undiag ADHD and NEED more free time for hobbies and to wind down. So I am now 4 days a week.
I am turning 21 in a week. I am too young to be dealing with this, and I have only been dealing with this for 3 months. K has been for the past 2-3 years. I cannot begin to imagine how much he would have hated life.

K cant do anything without E expecting to come.

I’m so frustrated, but just LOVE the positives of E, like I said, she and I get along really well. We having mostly matching politics and enjoy the same hobbies. We have a similar lived experience and she makes me laugh like I never have before. I love her when she’s good, but despise her when she’s not. It’s not like it’s this bad every day. I just think about it like once a month and just think “is this all worth it?” “Is this person irreplaceable?” “I’m probably going to regret keeping her as a friend”.

Though, I am well aware that you should not have to justify being someone’s friend. Once you get to that stage, it is not a healthy relationship, it is not worth it.

Overall, once I am 45 and getting old. I will look back to this stage of my life and be grateful for kicking her out (if I did), and annoyed that I did not (if I didn’t). I know it will be such a valuable lesson and step to take. But as they say, the first steps are always the hardest.

I am young and lack experience and wisdom. But I just can’t be bothered with the repercussions of the action of expelling her.

Also, what sparked me to even post this is that last night I asked her to send me evidence of job searching for my own mental health and for reassurance, to which she has not yet, despite the fact that she agreed to.

Please, idk what to do, I am posting this in several different subreddits.

I am genuinely thankful and grateful to anyone who is willing to give me advice please.

Also, if you need to, please ask me any question. I am open minded and don’t mind criticism myself - that’s how I improve as a person and keep being better every day. Thank you ☺️
