My honest opinion on the resident evil Anderson six movies spoilers
Honestly, I am going to be giving my honest opinion on a franchise I really like. I know I’m going to get some serious backlash most likely from the resident evil fans. However, I am not really a fan of the games. I tried I just can’t get into them. I know the gist of it though, I have friends that do like the games and I used to be friends with some people. Also, who liked the games, but had issues with the movies. They’re no longer on my friends list, but that’s unrelated and past is past. I also have the characters in dead by daylight though as well. However, even though I’m not really a fan of the video games, I do watch videos stuff like that. I have not seen welcome to raccoon city, Netflix show, I also seen the trailer from the new one, but it’s not about those. It’s about the Anderson films and honestly, I feel the movies are better than the games themselves are. I know a lot of people call them bad but I don’t compare something to what it’s not and just accepted for what it is and I treated as a separate universe from the games and it just works better that way. Then again it doesn’t help matters that I actually grew up with Wesker’s actor, Shawn Robert’s in goosebumps so having a childhood actor from when I was growing up in these things makes the movies even better. That and I knew resident evil was about zombies so if you expect a zombie apocalypse franchise like I expected, you got what you wanted and expected with a few monsters on the side.
The first resident evil movie
When I first watched it, I wasn’t really a fan of the first one, but after re-watching the first one a while back I actually had a lot more fun and enjoyment with the first one. Pretty much it’s one of those amnesia films where they’re trying to piece what happened pretty much. People talk about reign being one of the better parts of the movie. Overall, it’s a solid zombie film that and a laser area was so iconic and memorable.
Resident evil apocalypse
If you want a movie, that’s the closest to the Games. This is your answer. Because of the events of the first movie it’s spread a raccoon city and it in introduced characters like Jill and all that. Nemesis is in the movie and I liked him in the movie. He was my first, but he was bumped down to my second the third is Bela from the eighth game. However, this is not about resident evil village. Honestly, watching it for the second time I realized you didn’t have that much screen time compared to what I remembered the first time watching. Everyone’s pretty much trapped in the city and they are promised if they could rescue your scientist daughter they could escape using a helicopter. Honestly, the plot twist is the thing that surprised me the first time Matt one of the survivors from the first movie was nemesis. Honestly, I felt bad. He became that way in the end he helped them, but sacrificed himself. Poor nemesis.
Resident evil extinction
Honestly, watching it for the first time and the second time I felt this was definitely the weakest of the films. Pretty much they went with the whole desert, almost western type feel. They introduce Claire which becomes Alice’s best friend pretty much and they make a plan to go to Alaska because supposedly no zombies were there. Meanwhile, Alexander Isaacs was doing pretty much experiment with Alice clones training the zombies all of that. The film introduced also Wesker though this is the only film in the franchise where his actor is completely different and I kind of wished much like Star Wars did went back to fix some issues and replace him with Shawn Roberts to keep it consistent though I understand he must’ve been too young and just not available for this at the time so they had Jason o Mara. He doesn’t do much in the film just a three scene cameo. After Isaac‘s mutate he fights Alice and the lasers destroy him and Alice promises to go and hunt down the other members of umbrella.
Afterlife
My favorite when it comes to the resident evil movies. Funny enough this is the only movie out of all of them that never got a proper novelization. Don’t ask why they just never made a novel for this one but the others yes. Alice along with an army of clones went and invaded Wesker’s base in Tokyo. After a while, he flees out of there and implodes the base killing all the Alice clones. The real one is on his plane the two of them fight after he takes away her powers until they crash into a mountain temporarily killing Wesker and alice barely escaping. She goes to Alaska finds Claire who’s suffering memory loss and they tried to peace together what happened they end up going to Los Angeles finding survivors and pretty much learning. Arcadia was not Alaska but ship and a couple days ago they saw a bunch of people leaving. They spend them majority of the film, trying to reach the boat. They introduce us to Chris though he’s only in one film. They make it only to find out it was an umbrella ship and all those people that left was scared because of Wesker. He had a cannibalism problem because of the T virus, and he tries to fight Alice with zombie dogs and a director after he betrayed them after stealing Alice’s plane to get to the boat. They defeat Wesker he escaped and I see those are debate if we score on the plane when he accidentally imploded himself or if he jumped, I just assume he jumped, which is how he survived. The movie ends with a bunch of umbrella planes, showing up being led by a brainwashed, Jill.
Retribution
Honestly, I always liked retribution. A lot of the characters returned, but in clone form. The set pieces is interesting and they add Leon and Ada. They pretty much try to make it out of the umbrella, prime facility and free Jill. Wesker pretended to change and be on their side and he was leading the rest of humanity or supposedly was. Alice Bond with a clone girl surprisingly, this was actually Max from orphan. It wasn’t originally meant to be for her, but since I loved her, an orphan like how I love orphan good movie they got Max. Alice became her adoptive mother and all of them join Wesker at the White House. We had a very good ending with everyone standing outside, watching the apocalypse go down.
Final chapter
Since Ada and Leon’s actors were too busy with other things, they wasn’t in this film, though we couldn’t see what actually happened because Capcom from what I heard had a rule you can’t show main characters dying or something so they were just completely gone though the movie novelization stated more on what happened to them and Wesker’s betrayal so at least you can read what happened to them in novel form. However, they all died except for Alice and her adopted daughter Becky, the novel pretty much stated from what I understand Wesker here in the White House or something you don’t see you in the actual movie itself because she was too old for the kid role and that’s why she wasn’t included. However, Alice has 48 hours to save what’s left of humanity or else umbrella wins. This is it the final showdown. She goes to raccoon city pretty much while a clone of Alexander Isaacs is above ground leading the charge. Explaining the first one she fought in the third movie was a clone himself. Meanwhile Wesker is in the hive doing what he can to stop the situation. There was a traitor in the last remaining apocalypse team pretty much and they do whatever it takes to go to the hive to get the airborne antivirus. Alice is revealed to be a clone the entire time. Wesker gets fired and get his legs crossed by a door and all we can do is bleed out. Meanwhile, it’s the final showdown between Alice and Alexander Isaacs she defeats him, but before she could throw the virus, the clone of Alexander Isaac shows up and sees the original one the original one explains the clone one was a clone the clone kills the original the zombies killed the clone. Alice throws it down, killing all of the zombies. It’s supposedly you’re supposed to kill her off, but it doesn’t and it was a test she’s survived and got all the memories of Alicia. She pretty much drives off because her work is just not over yet. However, in the novelization from what I heard becky and Alice gets reunited in the end and wesker actually survives his injuries and he will be back someday.
Honestly, I just really love these films. If you can accept its their own continuity instead of comparing it to the games. They’re entertaining, it was really good and surprising to see one of my childhood actors so when I learned about that that blew my mind. I guess I just couldn’t recognize him because he was a teenager when it came to goosebumps and he was like 26 when he was Wesker. He’s not replacing my favorite character in the world, William Afton from Five Nights at Freddy’s, but I really like Wesker a character. He’s my back up in dead by daylight because of these movies and I just find him so interesting in the movies. I’ve seen some theories about movie Wesker and just how he works biologically. He’s just that interesting. I swear I seen the character before the movies because when I seen him in afterlife, I guessed that was Wesker and I was right. Maybe because my friend showed me him or maybe I seen him online somewhere? However Shawn Robert’s did an amazing job with the character to the point. He’s easily recognizable as the character. Here’s the movie Wesker theory on how he works. He’s just so interesting in the movies.
Pretty much what they were going for was he chose his abilities over his own physical health.
We don’t see his body’s condition after the plane crash, but the idea is if he lost a lot of blood and the T virus fixed him it left him unstable and he went in the wilderness and tried to consume whatever animals was around to try to stable himself with their blood. We don’t know how long it was when Alice and Wesker meet again though it was at least three days before they ran into each other again because his crew on the Arcadia ship abandoned him because they couldn’t take the madness of him cannibalizing his crew which I think how the T virus was working just like the theory is he was trying to stabilize himself after his injuries because him being unstable is causing the T virus to fight him for control. It was still affecting him because when the movie produced stole Alice’s playing to get on the Arcadia ship before Alice showed up, he was using him as a little snack, but the movie producer sided with Wesker. Alice, who bonded perfectly with the T virus he planned on cannibalizing her to completely stable himself. It didn’t work, but in retribution, he never had this problem. In final chapter, the novel makes him way more interesting. He was pretty much the equivalent of a human thing. Able to mutate his body anyway he wanted to, but he Had to be careful with that because of his power is being unstable. The novel even mentioned, he made himself as uncurbable as possible, shooting him in the head wouldn’t work. He scared his brain throughout his entire body for that reason. His face was completely obliterated when betraying the group. When he was attacked by one of his enemies, he just immediately got up, cannibalized him, and his face went back to normal. The reason why Wesker couldn’t use his powers after he got his legs, crushed by the door is because he never cannibalized Alice. He was left unstable if he tried to use his powers when bleeding and losing T virus like that it would actually kill him. He couldn’t use it unless he wanted to die. The only way to kill West in the movies was literally having pinned down and bleed out. When he asked for help that was not genuine, the one he was asking for had T virus and her system if she tried to approach him, he would’ve merely turned on her, cannibalizing her and getting the door off of him. His body was actually dissolving in the novelization, unlike his movie version. In the novel it confirmed Wesker survived or that version of the story did anyway. It referred to his body as corpse like, but he was still alive. The air borne antivirus that would kill all the zombies and anything with T virus in. It didn’t affect Wesker it only affected everything above ground not down below where he was at. It stated pretty much. It would take a couple hundred years before he could go back to the surface because the t virus stops aging. When the day comes, he would come back and the fun will begin again. So I just find him biologically interesting in the movies.
