Question: Can I go swimming?

As title says, I'm going to the beach in about 3 weeks and want to swim. I have several helix piercings and recently switched to a hoop a couple weeks ago for one of them again. My piercings are all about 3 years old, but the hoop I have in is crusting a bit and itchy. Wondering if it doesn't settle by the time I'm at the beach if I should avoid swimming or just change it back to a post for the next 3 weeks and then back to a hoop after vacation? My piercings are old but this particular one is temperamental. I know you're not supposed to swim with new piercings, but mine are old. But essentially, putting it in a ring has bothered it a little and I think I should treat it as a wound?
