Chance to purchase Symdex Epsilon and Spica TC-50 speakers, The AR turntable, and maybe even a Pass Labs amp. I need to spitball a bit on this.
So this guy in my area basically has had his brother's audio gear packed away for almost 30 years. It was in a home audio room his brother had built himself and the Symdex and Spica the engineers would use it for testing and leave him with the gear and this is what's left. So not a normal audio room or a normal person. I'm guessing on the amp but since the guy can't remember what the amp is and the Symdex owner was a dealer and distributor for Pass Labs and they were testing their gear there, that's as good a chance as any. Everything is boxed up and stored in a room at this guy's house and worked just like new when it was boxed up. He listens to music on a 25 year old boombox, and he's invited me over to check it out. Not the boombox. It doesn't appear that he's that interested in it but that doesn't mean he's not aware of the value. I wonder what approach I should use if he wants to divest himself of it, I can't afford retail, I don't want to take advantage of him, and I'm not even sure how much better it would sound than what I currently have, but I would rather have it for some to resell or some to keep than have it all sitting in a box somewhere. Any advice is appreciated.
