I didn't choose the scalper life. The scalper life chose me.
Just 5 months ago, I was just a normal football fan trying to attend a few World Cup matches.
Started innocently enough. Got 4 tickets (two round of 32, and two round of 16) from the VISA presale. Then grabbed another 4 tickets for Match 93 during a last minute sale.
Then a guy from Reddit who lived in my city offered to buy my Match 93 tickets for double what I paid.
I told myself, "Absolutely not. I'm a real fan."
Five minutes later I was calculating profit margins in Excel.
Sold those tickets. Then sold my Round of 32 tickets too. Also for a 100% profit.
Next thing I know, I used the profits to buy Argentina tickets and a World Cup semifinal ticket at face value from last minute sale. Thanks to fifa.
So somehow I started as a guy trying to watch football and ended up running a tiny ticket arbitrage operation.
Hate all you want. The best part is that every ticket I currently own was basically funded by selling the initial tickets I bought.
Some people become scalpers because they want money.
I became one because I wanted better seats at better match.
