Help with food shortage

I can't get my farms running efficiently. Without having spent days just watching the villagers, is something going wrong? Im past the first winter and just cant smooth out the production chain.

I have two farms with three, 4x4 plots. Each farm is run by two villagers. A day and a night worker. They have rakes and started with plenty of seeds. Probably 50 or more of each crop. I try to diversify each season and the farms are fenced in.

At the end of a growing season I checked my raw food warehouse and nothing has been stored in the containers. I only whitelisted the warehouse worker and the cooks. The cooked food storage never fills up either, and is located in another warehouse. Im barely keeping my people happy as some eat and others dont. Also only able to produce tier 1 and 2 foods in any capacity because of the lack of stockpiling.

Please help! Im new to the game (approx. 75 hours), so it could be something very simple ive glossed over. I have been watching Ser Bucky videos but may have misunderstood some of their advice or the mechanics as well.
