The new single sex spaces guidance/ruling

Possible trigger

Sorry I really can’t remember the name of this legislation (?) but could someone talk me through it? I also may have tagged this wrong but I’m not sure??

From my understanding (but I feel like I’m wrong) I’m protected by the equality act to go into the men’s bathroom as a trans man but the establishments policy is protected by law and they can ask me to leave (???) and then at that point if I don’t, I’m breaking the law???

I really don’t know like how to interpret it or understand it?

I know most in my situation are just biting the bullet and going into the bathroom of their sex but I just can’t. Not to mention the fact i feel like I’d be more likely to get jumped by a husband for being in the same bathroom as his wife then I would gling to the men’s bathroom so it’s like a general safety concern too. And then the disabled toilets are always locked in my area with no one at the desk and there’s a huge lack of gender neutral facilities from what I’ve seen?

I’ve got no issue leaving the bathroom if asked, not because I agree with it but because I’d rather not be locked up or fined. But if I’m facing breaking the law just by stepping into the men’s bathroom regardless on the establishments policy, then I would preferably like to know so I know not to go to the toilet while out 😭

Thank you
