Feeling unsure
I had surgery on 5/29/26. I had lap band taken out and got sleeved. I read so many horror stories on this page about people struggling with fluid intake and not being able to consume anything post op. It almost made me not go through with it. Here I am 5 days post op and I’ve had zero issues. I had some issues with liquids for the first few days but since yesterday I’ve had no pain or discomfort. I’ve been able to meet water and protein goals since Monday. I’ve even been able to use a straw (which my surgeon said was fine as long as it wasn’t uncomfortable). I’ve been able to take large sips of water in a row and still no issue. I’m terrified this surgery isn’t going to work for me. I read so much about people struggling just to get water down that I fear maybe my surgery wasn’t done right or my body just has been able to adjust super quickly which makes me nervous for the future. I’m on puréed foods and full liquids. Yesterday I had a very soft scrambled egg with a spoonful of cottage cheese in it and that was challenging but protein drinks and broth have been so easy. I’d love anyone’s perspective or experience. I have spent years dedicated to an active lifestyle, using a glp1 and the past 6 months counting calories and getting to a loss of about 60 lbs over the course of a year but I reached a point where I needed more help. The idea that I just put my body through a surgery for it to all be for not is truly painful for me. I feel deeply upset by this. Can anyone relate? Any advice welcome.
